More than a third of Americans believe the severity of recent natural disasters is evidence that we are in the “end times” described in the New Testament -- a period of turmoil preceding Jesus' Second Coming and the end of the world.

On Friday Simon Martin, of Penn Museum, said 2012 end of world predictions are based only on a small piece of the Mayan calendar.

Beginning Oct. 11, Calvary Lutheran Church of Post Falls will host a weekly class called, "Revelation and the end?"

Described as a class for "skeptics, atheists, free-thinkers, and people of all faith backgrounds," it will address the book of Revelation.
