St. John’s Cathedral will present a musical program highlighting the works of Johann Sebastian Bach at 3 p.m. on Oct. 4.

The concert will feature the Cathedral Choir, Kantorei Choir and Cathedral Collegium Orchestra, under the direction of conductor and haprsichordist Timothy Westerhaus.

“As a conductor and performer of Bach’s music, I marvel and delight in the intricacy of his writing—whether choral or instrumental.  In this program of two cantatas and a violin concerto, each note has a purpose; each phrase tightly woven into the whole.  Bach transforms his listener, touching the ‘heartstrings’ through Baroque Affekt in his instrumental music and his powerful, yet sensitive interpretation of sacred texts,” Westerhaus said in a press release.

The concert is free, though a suggested donation of $15 (students $5) is requested.

Free parking is available in the parking lots behind Lindaman’s Restaurant on 13th and Grand Blvd.
