On May 14, mail carriers will collect shelf-stable food donations during Second Harvest’s annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Collection bags will be dropped into mailboxes the week prior. Donors can help by filling the bag with non-perishable food and leaving it near the mailbox for pickup on May 14.
Second Harvest is in need of volunteers to help at this one day drive. Morning (9 a.m -2 p.m) and afternoon (1 p.m – 4:30 p.m) shifts are available around town.
Volunteers can help unload donated food items from mail carrier trucks as they return to the post office and move them onto Second Harvest trucks.
Volunteers, can also sign up to use personal vehicles while following a postal map of residences to collect donated food drive items and return the donations to the designated post office. Two volunteers are needed per team.
