If using the most liberal interpretation of atheism, one might speculate that atheism is a religion. This assumes the organized belief in nothing (at least nothing of a higher origin than humankind) could be classified as a religion.
I have personally met few true atheists, but rather, numerous agnostics who are believers in something greater than themselves while no longer being willing to submit themselves to the myth, mysticism, guilt, and shame of many organized religions.
