Readers, fans and curious newcomers are invited to a live event at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse, 420 E. Second St., Moscow, Idaho, featuring author Julie A. Ferraro, whose new memoir draws on the life and philosophy of Scottish entertainer Sir Billy Connolly.
Ferraro, a columnist for FāVS News whose work runs every Tuesday, wrote “The Wee Book of How Not to Be Beige,” which examines Connolly’s music, stand-up comedy, interviews, writing, films and television appearances. The book argues that creativity, humor and authenticity matter more than ever, blending personal stories with lessons Ferraro has learned over decades. She encourages readers to resist becoming “beige” — settling for the ordinary — and instead embrace an open-minded approach to life.
The Sept. 10 event gives attendees a rare chance to hear from Ferraro directly and connect with fellow readers in person. Raffle tickets for exclusive Billy Connolly quote T-shirts will be available, and signed copies of the book will be sold at a discount, with proceeds benefiting FāVS News.
The book is also this month’s pick for the FāVS Book Club, which will hold two online discussions ahead of the live event, from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and Aug. 27. The book club runs Aug. 1-27 and is open to anyone who wants to dig into the book before meeting Ferraro in person.
Registration is open for both the book club. No registration is required for the Sept. 10 event.

It looks like a fun evening for all who attend! Too bad Hillsboro is such a long commute 🙂
