Spokane County has the second-highest rate of domestic violence in the state of Washington, according to a Spokane County press release. On Thursday elected officials, law enforcement, emergency responders, service providers and community leaders will discuss the increase of domestic violence cases in the region and how the community can respond, during a Leadership Symposium on Domestic Violence.
County Commissioner Shelly O’Quinn and Spokane City Councilwoman Amber Waldref have been working with the YWCA of Spokane to organize the event.
“Every person deserves to be safe in our community. It is vital that Spokane policy leaders are educated and engaged in stopping domestic violence,” Waldref said.
The symposium will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon, in the third-floor Jury Room, located in the Spokane County Courthouse Annex, 1116 W. Broadway Ave.
Confirmed attendees include: Judges Annette Plese, Debra Hayes, Patti Walker and Tracy Staab, Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich, Chief of Police Frank Straub, City Attorney Nancy Isserlis as well as representatives from the City/County Prosecutor and Public Defender Offices.
Can you post a date for this symposium? I don’t see it in the story. Thanks!
