When it comes to my decor, I tend to hang up quotes or paintings that motivate me. This can come from quotes said in Scripture. I also use inspirational quotes from my favorite authors and athletes.

When my roommates and I first moved into our house, we decided to scribble or hang Bible verses on the walls of different rooms. In a small red frame that rests over my computer is the verse Ephesians 6:11.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…”

Other verses that are hanging on my walls include Psalms 100 and 1 Samuel 17:37. In addition to Biblical scripture, I have also mounted quotes related to Buddha.

“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

However, my favorite quote is not by a deity or a prophet, but a man. After his loss to Chris Leben in 2011, Wanderlei Silva, wrote this.

“The true warrior never surrenders, carry his cross and never surrenders.”

Although the translation may be a little bit off, it still gives me strength every morning when I see it.
