There’s a seemingly endless amount to be said about our post-truth era, with its alternative facts and its fake news. When considering the topic of truth, I hardly knew where to begin
So is truth relative? Can it even be pursued or attempted by human journalists? How about readers? Truth is not one source. It should be the voice of the many, not the voice of the few.
One day the devil and one of his little minions were sitting on a cloud looking down at some humans below when they saw a man walking down a road who stopped, picked up something off the road, put it in his pocket and kept walking.
“What did he find?” asked the minion. “A piece of truth,” chuckled the devil.
In a perfect world, we’d all understand each other. We’d all know exactly the meaning and context of every sentence, and it would always be the same—across cultures, times, languages—fixed on the pursuit of verifiable truth.
