Israelis Prepare for a Passover Overshadowed by War and Loss

As the normally joyous communal holiday of Passover approaches this year, many Israelis say the war in Gaza has dampened the prospect of holding a Seder — the communal retelling of the ancient Israelites’ escape from Egypt from enslavement based on the Bible’s Book of Exodus.

Gonzaga Bulldogs, rabbi, lead Passover Seder for Zags

Rabbi Elizabeth Goldstein, an associate professor in religious studies at Gonzaga University, and the Jewish Bulldogs hosted a Passover Seder Wednesday night at the Globe room in Cataldo Hall where attendees not only received a meal, but also a lesson on it, its traditions and what each food and practice symbolized as people engaged in discussion and song.

With the Passover holiday coming up, there are several recipes anyone can use for desserts, whether it is after the Seder meal or during the Passover holiday. There are several cakes and cookies that can be made with the use of matzo meal instead of regular flour.
