Darwin on the Palouse, a free annual even hosted by Humanists of the Palouse "to celebrate humanity, science and rational thought," will be held Feb. 6 on the Washington State University campus in Pullman.
In a press release sent out this week The Humanists of the Palouse, a chapter of the American Humanist Association, publicly condemned the comments of Pastor Doug Wilson, regarding slavery and marriage equality.
Simmons, who considers himself a humanist and an atheist, is a long-time resident of Moscow, Idaho, where he is a board member of the Humanists of the Palouse and coordinator for its annual Darwin on the Palouse event.
