I can see how one might think that reality television presents a skewed view of reality. Then there are shows that skew even further by being “scripted” reality TV (e.g. The Hills). I think the prevalence of some of these shows may “normalize” extreme wealth, making it seem like we are not watching the 1 percent, but the 89 percent.

But I also agree with Ernesto that to blame the corruption of a generation on any one cause is really a huge exaggeration. And I'm not sure it's fair to blame Kim and Kanye when the entire entertainment and advertising industry is promoting consumerism.
