Podcaster to discuss Northwest extremism in Moscow talk

Heath Druzin, creator and host of the NPR podcast “Extremely American,” will present “An Inside Look at Extremism in the Northwest and How it is Shaping Our Lives and Politics” on Dec. 17.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Room of Moscow’s 1912 Center, 412 E 3rd St.

Druzin, whose recent podcast series “Extremely American” examined Moscow’s Christ Church and the rise of Christian nationalism, brings extensive journalism experience to the topic. His work has appeared on NPR, BBC and the Daily Beast. He also served as a war correspondent in Iraq and Afghanistan for Stars and Stripes for over six years.

The presentation, which includes a Q&A session with audience participation, is jointly sponsored by The United Church of Moscow, The Moscow Human Rights Task Force, and the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Pullman.

Currently all seats are filled. However, the organizers are accepting waitlist signups.

I’ve listened to Heath’s podcast — he’s got his finger on the issue, for sure. Another great podcast about Moscow’s Christ Church is Sons of Patriarchy.
