Column By Mike Aleman for FāVS News
Prayer, as it always has, will help us all, for it will remind us that Donald Trump isn’t really in charge. God is. Pray specifically that God will intervene and limit the damage by converting Trump as he did Saul on the road to Tarsus. Saul, who became Paul, was speechless for three days. Now wouldn’t that be a miracle if Trump became speechless for a time? He wouldn’t spew vituperation. He couldn’t demean others with his insults.
Pray that senators and congressmen and women will replace their fear of Trump and stand up to him. Pray that they will uphold the Constitution as they swore to do. Pray that the scales will fall from their eyes and they will see the damage the president is doing — that they will see he is dismantling many of those rules, conventions, laws and institutions that have, without Trump’s help, made this country great.
Pray that the courts, and especially the Supreme Court, will protect the people they have promised to serve. Pray that they rise above personal loyalties to serve the country and its people, rather than serving Trump.
Pray that our republic will not just survive but that the goodness of it will prevail.
Pray that voices of reason rise above the voices of contention and hatred and that they would not be afraid to speak out for the biblical “widow and the orphan” and for those who have become “strangers in a strange land.” Remember, everyone of us came from immigrant stock, as did Trump and his family, as did Melania Trump’s family. Immigrants, our grandparents and great grandparents, helped build this nation.
Pray for wisdom for all of us to rise above the pettiness of our biases, and to open our hearts and minds. Pray for courage to do what we know in our hearts is best for all of the citizens of this country, and not only for likeminded individuals whose opinions and views are like ours.
Now is the time to pray, so let us pray!

Thank you for this encouragement to pray, to remind ourselves that Trump is not God. I for one need thus encouragement.
Pray by all means, but pray that we reflect Christ’s character, God’s character, to a world that does not know Him.
God has given us one job: make disciples. We have failed.
So now we want the government to do what God organized the church, His Body, His Bride, to do: take care of the widow, the orphan, the sick, the stranger, the oppressed. But we can’t even get along with or take care of our own families.
For the “church” to press for the government to do what it was commissioned to do is what Christian Nationalists are doing.
