Tonight at Whitworth University three experts will lead a symposium on genome editing.
“Editing the Genome: Should We Alter the Future of Humankind?” will be at 7 p.m. in Weyerhaeuser Hall’s Robinson Teaching Theatre on the Whitworth campus.
Genome editing is one of the major scientific breakthroughs of recent years. Panelists will discuss whether the technology is something that should be feared or embraced, according to an announcement.
On the symposium will be Nigel Campbell, president of the Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies; Meaghan O’Keefe, a bioethicist from the University of California Davis, and Dr. Andrew Scharenberg, from the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
