FāVS News is among 50 people and organizations across Washington state receiving the Humanities Washington Award as part of the organization’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the public humanities—those who bring new stories to light, connect communities and encourage reflection and learning. Humanities Washington typically presents two awards annually but expanded to 50 this year to honor a half-century of work.
FāVS News was among 11 honorees in the Eastern Washington region, selected through community nominations and regional partnerships.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition, which affirms our commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue about faith, values and ethics in our community,” said Tracy Simmons, FāVS News founder. “The humanities are more important now than ever because they provide the tools for understanding diverse perspectives and building bridges across differences in an era of increasing polarization.”
Recipients will be honored at an online celebration Dec. 10. The $1,000 award is funded through a gift from the Frank Family of Yakima in honor of Heather and Herb Frank.
