On Monday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the location for its planned Coeur d’Alene temple, releasing a rendering of the exterior.

The temple will be built on a 10.91-acre site at Hanley Avenue and Coeur Terre Boulevard. Plans call for a single-story, 29,630-square-foot temple, along with a meetinghouse and ancillary building.

President Russell M. Nelson announced the Coeur d’Alene temple at the church’s general conference last year. When completed, it will be Idaho’s 11th temple. Ten others are announced, under construction or operating in Boise, Burley, Caldwell, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Montpelier, Pocatello, Rexburg, Teton River and Twin Falls.

More than 480,000 Latter-day Saints live in Idaho across nearly 1,300 congregations.

Elder Hal C. Hunsaker, an Area Seventy, said the community will be invited to tour the temple during a public open house once construction is complete.

“The temple grounds will always be a place where anyone can come to feel the beauty and peace that surround this sacred space,” Hunsaker said.

President Bradley S. Moss of the Post Falls Idaho Stake said many members in North Idaho travel long distances to worship at temples.

“Having one here in Coeur d’Alene is a profound blessing,” Moss said.
