Matthew Kincanon

Matthew Kincanon is a communications coordinator with a journalism and political science degree from Gonzaga University. His journalism experience includes the Gonzaga Bulletin, The Spokesman-Review, Art Chowder, Trending Northwest, Religion Unplugged and FāVS News. He loves being a freelancer for FāVS because, having been born and raised in Spokane, he wants to learn more about the various religious communities and cultures in his hometown, especially Indigenous communities.

Whitworth University to Hold Christmas Festival Concert this Month

The Whitworth University Music Department will present the 2022 Christmas Festival Concert “Nowell Sing We,” this weekend. The concert features Christmas music from the Whitworth Choir and the Forest Treble Choir under the direction of Xiaosha Lin, DMA, director of choral activities.

During one of these Bible studies, someone suggested Damascus should attend one of the Coffee Talks hosted by SpokaneFāVS. He was moved by the diverse and interesting panelists, motivating him to get involved.

Weller first got involved with SpokaneFāVS in October 2021 at a book discussion hosted by FāVS. The meeting was on the book “An Everyday Cult,” which resonated with Weller and she felt grateful that FāVS would promote a thoughtful discussion. Later, FāVS posted an article Weller wrote about the signs of a healthy and unhealthy spirituality, and became a columnist in the Spring of 2022.

One Heart Native Arts & Film Festival was held at Magic Lantern Theater Friday and Saturday night, presenting films made by Indigenous artists, including Sky Hopinka, a Ho-Chunk filmmaker who was recently named a MacArthur Fellow, and his feature film "małni – towards the ocean, towards the shore."
