Whitworth University students are partnering with Generation Alive in a meal-packaging event, which will take place May 3 at the Fieldhouse at Whitworth.
Social justice advocate, filmmaker, author and playwright Jen Marlowe will present “Reflections of Resistance” at Whitworth University at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the Robinson Teaching Theatre in Weyerhaeuser Hall.
The Whitworth University Board of Trustees this month adopted a statement that affirms and expands Whitworth’s relationship with the Presbyterian Church and elevates the university’s theological identities, according to a press release.
The statement is the culmination of a yearlong inquiry a board-appointed Task Force on Denominational Relationships conducted in anticipation of the June 2013 expiration of the university’s current covenant agreement with the Synod of Alaska-Northwest and the concurrent cessation of the synod’s functions.
Each February, Whitworth University commemorates its founding, on Feb. 20, 1890, with a month-long celebration. Heritage Month 2013 will kick off Feb. 7, with the Founder’s Day Convocation, when students, faculty and staff gather to bring Whitworth’s history to life and dedicate themselves to building upon that legacy in the coming year.
The 2012 Whitworth University Christmas Festival concerts, “Laud to the Nativity,” kicks off Dec. 1 and will feature more than 120 student performers, including members of the Whitworth Choir, the Whitworth Women’s Choir, the Whitworth Men’s Chorus and the Whitworth Chamber Singers, as well as student instrumentalists and narrators.

He's an expert in the field of virtue theory and author of "The Inquiring Mind: On Intellectual Virtues and Virtue Epistemology."
On Sept. 21, the Whitworth University Board of Trustees will officially break ground on the Whitworth Campus Recreation Center, which will be open to Whitworth students, faculty and staff in fall 2013, according to a news release.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which will take place behind Whitworth’s Westminster Hall from 12:30-12:45 p.m.
