“Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more,” Proverbs 31:6-7.
I've been thinking about this issue since my mother is battling, most likely, terminal cancer if she doesn't get healed. The issue of euthanasia comes up when one watches a loved one suffering horribly.
There is an ethical debate between euthanasia and terminal sedation, I seem to see the later principle in the verse above.
I want all possible options available to help my mother manage her last days with as little suffering as possible.
I also think we have a responsibility to maintain the view that death is the Christian's enemy and we should fight death with reasonable and wise law.
