FāVS News is expanding its coverage across Washington state, and we’re inviting clergy, faith leaders, nonprofits and community members to help shape the conversation.

Since our founding in 2012, FāVS News has been America’s only digital newsroom devoted exclusively to local religion news. As a nonprofit, we’ve built a regional and national wire serving 15 media partners — including The Spokesman-Review, Northwest Public Broadcasting and Spokane Public Radio.

As we expand statewide, our goal is to amplify diverse voices and cover how faith impacts communities across Washington — from Spokane to Seattle, from rural towns to urban neighborhoods.

What we cover

  • Faith communities and religious life
  • Social justice and community service
  • Interfaith dialogue
  • Ethics and public life
  • Religion and politics
  • Education and faith
  • Local and statewide community issues

Our mission is to foster thoughtful conversation, highlight community work and elevate diverse voices across Washington.

Communities we’re looking to connect with

As FāVS News expands, we’re especially interested in hearing from communities in Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver, Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Bellingham, Wenatchee and rural communities across Washington.

How to get involved

Pitch a story idea
Know of an issue affecting your faith community? A unique program or a compelling personal story? We welcome tips and ideas from across the state. Email FāVS editor Tracy Simmons at tracysimmons@favs.news.

Write a column
We publish perspectives from clergy, faith leaders, scholars and community members representing a wide range of traditions and viewpoints. FāVS columnists write on a recurring basis — all perspectives are welcome. Email tracysimmons@favs.news to pitch your column idea.

Freelance for us
We’re looking for freelance reporters based across Washington state to help expand our coverage. Religion beat experience is helpful but not required — curiosity, fairness and comfort with AP Style matter most. Email tracysimmons@favs.news with a brief introduction and any clips.

Share your community’s work
Faith-based and community nonprofits are encouraged to share initiatives, events and community impact stories. We’re especially interested in how organizations are serving their communities across Washington.
