First, meet Thomas Schmidt. He is a retired psychotherapist and chemical dependency counselor who belongs to the Sufi Ruhiniat International order of Sufis. He is also a drummer in the Spokane Sufi group and an elder at the Country Homes Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church.

Presbyterian Church (USA). He received degrees from Penn State University (BA, English), Princeton Theological Seminary (Mdiv, Philosophy) and in 2008 a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Columbia Theological Seminary. He also received a Master of Fine Arts from Eastern Washington University.
