Nicholas Damascus

As an infant, I was baptized as an Eastern Orthodox Christian. However, I would say that becoming a Christian is a work in progress, and I often wonder would there be enough evidence to convict me of becoming a Christian. The Orthodox Church is the ancient Church that Christ and the Apostles established. It is not a religion but rather a way of life. It is not about rules and regulations but rather guide posts to make choices to transition to what we were designed to become. Becoming Orthodox is not a conversion but more so a transformation of self. It’s not about being right: it is about “right being.” In John 14:6, Christ says I am the Way (to love and serve one another), the Truth (there is only one reality), and the Life (that life source is love). I invite you to submit any topics or questions to “Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian” on the website. Join me in finding our way back home to the original teachings of the Church. When you change the way you look at things, things change the way they look.

Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian: Sex Only For Procreation?

There is nowhere in Scripture where it states a man and a woman in the sacramental life of marriage can not participate in the expression of love with one another as in conjugal relations.

Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian: What Is Your Church? Part 2

The true aim of every Orthodox Christian is the acquisition of the Holy Spirit of God.

Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian: What is Your Church?

What distinguishes it from other Christian faiths is from the point of its inception; it makes the claim that it has not added, altered, or subtracted from any part of the original teachings of its founder Christ and the Apostles.

Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian: Why Are Priests Called Father?

As the church grew, the bishops found it difficult to serve a large number of parishes, and as a result, they began to appoint a presbyter (priest) for each congregation who acted as his delegate.

Ask An Eastern Orthodox Christian: Why Has God Abandoned Us?

Because there isn't a church close to you, that does not mean that God has abandoned you.

The Value of Human Connection

The human connection is simply defined as love, that exists and is expressed in each and every one of us, and its value is found in defining who we are as persons.

Repentance in the Eastern Orthodox Faith is a Way of Life

In the Eastern Orthodox Church (EOC), the Holy Mystery of Confession is a means whereby one can confess their sins and have them absolved.
